For the 2026 Met Gala, Natasha Poonawalla walked the carpet wearing a sculpture crafted by British visual artist Marc Quinn. The piece, Orchid Pectoral, was paired with a white couture gown by Domenico Dolce.

“I remember visiting Marc Quinn in his studio and being completely struck by the scale of his sculptures, so commanding, so unapologetically present. And at that moment, I found myself wondering: why can’t something like this be worn?” says Poonawalla. Cast in white high-tech gessoed and lightweight resin, she wore the orchid at her chest, its petals blooming behind and in front of her, almost resembling ceremonial armour.

The fluid Dolce & Gabbana gown offered some softness to offset the sculptural elements, trailing behind Poonawalla with an easy, weightless movement. She accessorised with large diamond earrings—droplets falling from one ear—and a crystal ring by Outhouse Jewellery. Her makeup, by Savleen Manchanda, featured a nude base and defined brown eyes, while her hair, styled by Mike Desir, was pulled into a high puff bun.

As Quinn explains: “I see the Orchid Pectoral as a piece of fashion inspired by my artwork. In this iteration, it only exists with its meaning activated when Natasha wears it, rather than as a sculpture in its own right.”
