The annual event, chaired by Condé Nast’s Global Chief Content Officer and Artistic Director, Dame Anna Wintour, sees the biggest names flock to New York in their finest outfits. For the first time in the history of the Met, the event wasn’t sponsored by a brand; instead, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and his wife Sanchez, put up £7.37m for the gathering.
They were also named as honorary co-chairs alongside Beyoncé, Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams and Dame Anna. This year’s theme was Fashion Is Art, with guests being told to “explore their relationship to fashion as an embodied art form and celebrate depictions of the dressed body throughout art history”.
