Chennai: Acknowledging the role of children who lovingly guided their families into voting for the Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) in the just concluded ‘wonder election’ that had also come to epitomize change, the party president Vijay said that the victors in the electoral war were not just the party but also to the democracy that was nurtured in the hearts of the people.
In his maiden statement issued after the TVK emerged as the single largest party, poised to take over the government with some support from other parties on Thursday, Vijay said that money power, which had become a political culture and a menace in the State, had been buried deep into a pit, proving that the TVK was a prime force for change in politics.
Thanking those who voted for his party and ushering the change that many had felt could never be brought about and the TVK’s virtual warriors and other party functionaries, he said the elections had proved to be different with the people voting overwhelmingly for the party that was subjected to abuse and humiliation at its inception in the name of criticism.
