Vijayawada: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday unveiled the Nabard State Focus Paper and credit plan for 2026-27, projecting a massive Rs.5.11 lakh crore credit outlay for Andhra Pradesh’s priority sectors.
Strong focus has been laid on agriculture, horticulture and allied activities.
According to Nabard estimates, the credit plan for the coming financial year has been enhanced by 20 per cent from last year’s Rs.4.24 lakh crore to Rs.5,11,491 crore. Of the total allocation, agriculture alone received Rs.2.55 lakh crore.
The plan earmarked Rs.1.66 lakh crore for crop loans, Rs.34,972 crore for animal husbandry, Rs.8,265 crore for farm mechanisation, Rs.21,098 crore for fisheries and Rs.11,961 crore for horticulture.
Nabard has specifically allocated Rs.5,313 crore for horticulture development in Rayalaseema and Prakasam districts.
In addition, Rs.9,957 crore has been proposed for agricultural infrastructure and Rs.12,687 crore for allied agricultural activities. The MSME sector has been allocated Rs.1.64 lakh crore under the credit plan.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister urged banks and Nabard officials to actively support the government’s thrust on horticulture expansion. He said the state aimed to achieve annual horticulture production of 450 lakh metric tonnes.
Naidu observed that agriculture, particularly horticulture and aquaculture, played a vital role in Andhra Pradesh’s economic growth and called upon financial institutions to extend full cooperation to the sector.
Nabard CGM M.R. Gopal, GM K.V.S. Prasad and representatives of Canara Bank, SBI, SLBC, APGB and APCOB participated in the programme.
