Blake Lively was accused of ‘snapping’ at the staff at the Met Gala but fans have rushed to her defence and insisted she was not snapping at anyone
Blake Lively has been accused of ‘snapping’ at Met Gala staff – but fans were quick to rush to her defence. The Met Gala was a huge night in fashion, with some of the biggest stars stepping out for the hotly anticipated evening in New York. Blake, fresh from settling her case with Justin Baldoni, was one of the stars on the carpet.
The actress wore an archival Atelier Versace gown from the collection in Spring 2006 for the event and was seen speaking with the staff at the event, who helped lift up her dress for the photos on the infamous stairs.
In the video, Blake was seen making her way up the stairs as four people tried to help unfurl her train. She was then seen turning to look over her shoulder and gesturing towards the skirt.
In the clip, she seems to tell the staff to let her dress drag on the floor. Three of the helpers then step back and the other walks with her, before stepping back also after she ‘waves’ him off.
The interaction was picked up by a fan, who wrote: “No one has ever looked more like they were about to CC HR (human resources) on the red carpet…” They also added over the clip: “The dress said couture. The energy said ‘per my last email.'”
As many fans joked about Blake’s apparent ‘snapping’ – a characterisation picked up by some media outlets – others were quick to defend the actress. “It looks to me like she’s instructing the people who are hired to assist celebrities on the carpet how to help or not help with her dress. Not mean or bossy just delegating like a boss,” one fan wrote.
Once her train was fixed, the actress was seen smiling at the staff and thanking them for taking care of her whilst she navigated the infamous stairs in the Atelier gown. The Mirror have reached out to Blake’s representatives for comment.
It comes just hours after Blake and It Ends With Us co-star Justin Baldoni settled their lawsuit. Lively, 38, had sued Baldoni, 42, and his production company, Wayfarer Studios, at the end of 2024.
Weeks later, Baldoni sued Lively, accusing her, her husband, Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds, and their publicist of defamation and extortion. In a rare move, the pair issued a joint statement via their lawyers.
They said: “Raising awareness, and making a meaningful impact in the lives of domestic violence survivors — and all survivors — is a goal that we stand behind.
“It is our sincere hope that this brings closure and allows all involved to move forward constructively and in peace, including a respectful environment online.” The terms of the settlement were not disclosed.
