Both Beyonce and Blake Lively attended the Met Gala on Monday after previously skipping the event but while one was praised for her “polite” and “sweet” approach to staff, the other was slammed for “snapping”
Beyonce and Blake Lively have both been noticed for their treatment of staff at the Met Gala on Monday (4 May) – but for very different reasons. While Beyonce was praised for her “polite” approach, while Blake has been slammed by fans after a footage emerged of her seemingly snapping at assistants.
This was Beyonce’s first appearance at the Met Gala in 10 years and she attended the event alongside her daughter Blue Ivy Carter. In a moment captured on camera, the singer was being helped by staff as she and her 14-year-old daughter entered the gala. Beyonce, who was won of the co-chairs for the night, was seen smiling at helpers as they fixed the cape of her Olivier Rousteing dress.

According to lip reader Jackie G, Beyonce, who had a smile on her face, said to one of the helpers: “Does it look alright? Thank you.” She then asked one of them to help Blue Ivy with her dress so that the two could “get closer together” for pictures. She thanked the helper again and said to her daughter: “You look beautiful baby!”
The singer then beckoned her husband, Jay-Z, to come and take photos with them. She also told reporters that she was “so proud” Blue Ivy. Fans hopped in the comments of Jackie’s video to praise the singer. One said: “Oh this is good. But she’s so polite and sweet with her staff”.
Others loved how much Beyonce talked about her daughter. A fan said: “A doting mama is such a flex.” Another added: “It’s all about her babies now. She’s a proud mother. A human like us!”
However, Blake Lively received a different reaction after taking to the red carpet. The star also needed help with her dress but seemed to snap at the staff. In a video, Blake was seen making her way up the stairs as four people tried to help unfurl her train. She then turned to look over her shoulder and gesturing towards the skirt.
She appeared to be telling the helpers to let her dress drag on the floor, causing three to step back, leaving just one to walk with her, who Blake also appeared to ‘wave off’.
One fan said they thought she looked like she was about to report the staff. They said: “No one has ever looked more like they were about to CC HR (human resources) on the red carpet…” Another added: “The dress said couture. The energy said ‘per my last email.'”
But some thought Blake’s response was less of a snap and more like ‘delegating’. One said: “It looks to me like she’s instructing the people who are hired to assist celebrities on the carpet how to help or not help with her dress. Not mean or bossy just delegating like a boss.”
Once her train was fixed, the actress was seen smiling at the staff and thanking them for taking care of her whilst she navigated the infamous stairs in the Atelier gown. The Mirror have reached out to Blake’s representatives for comment.
Blake’s surprise appearance at the Met Gala came just hours after she and her It Ends With Us co-star Justin Baldoni settled their lawsuit. Blake had sued Justin and his production company Wayfarer Studios at the end of 2024. Weeks later, he sued her, accusing her and her husband Ryan Reynolds, as well as their publicist, of defamation and extortion.
Following their settlement, in a rare move, the pair issued a joint statement via their lawyers. They said: “Raising awareness, and making a meaningful impact in the lives of domestic violence survivors — and all survivors — is a goal that we stand behind. It is our sincere hope that this brings closure and allows all involved to move forward constructively and in peace, including a respectful environment online.” The terms of the settlement were not disclosed.
