A young man has been stabbed while walking through a park in a country town west of Brisbane, in what police suspect was an unprovoked attack.
The 23-year-old man was thought to have been walking with others, including a woman and baby, on a footpath through the park in Dalby about 2.30pm on Wednesday when he was approached.
Police said a 46-year-old man allegedly stabbed the victim twice in his upper-left arm, before fleeing.
Officers did not suspect any kind of argument or fight between the two men before the attack, and said the pair were not known to each other.
The young man was taken to Dalby Hospital before officers arrived.
Later on Thursday, he was flown to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a serious condition.
Several hours after the alleged attack, about 4pm, police found the 46-year-old several kilometres away on Oakwood Street.
He was charged with one count of grievous bodily harm, and was due to appear in Dalby Magistrates Court on Thursday.
Police expected to reveal additional details about the incident around midday on Thursday.
