Hyderabad: The Transport department has asked officials to coordinate closely with the district administration and civil supplies department officials to facilitate availability and deployment of suitable transport vehicles required for paddy transportation operations.
It asked the district transport officers to ensure availability of adequate goods vehicles for transportation of paddy from procurement centres to designated storage points or rice mills.
The department instructed to maintain close coordination with district Collectors and civil supplies authorities for timely placement of vehicles as per requirement in addition to ensure that all vehicles engaged in transportation possess valid registration certificate, fitness certificate, permit, insurance, pollution under control certificate and valid driving licence.
It advised officials to ensure smooth movement of vehicles engaged in paddy transportation and address operational issues promptly in coordination with district authorities apart from monitoring the transportation arrangements on a regular basis and furnish status or compliance reports to the office periodically, according to Transport Commissioner K. Ilambarithi.
These instructions were issued after the civil supplies department has informed that paddy procurement activities are being undertaken extensively. To ensure smooth, timely and uninterrupted transportation operations, a request was made to the Transport department to extend necessary support for facilitating availability of suitable vehicles ensuring smooth movement of goods vehicles engaged in paddy transportation.
