Rory McIlroy has given wedding advice to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce ahead of their nuptials. It’s claimed that pop superstar Taylor and Travis are set to tie the knot on July 3 in New York City.
While details surrounding the ceremony remain tightly under wraps, it’s expected that the biggest names in entertainment will be stepping out for the show-stopping occasion. And now, golf star Rory has offered advice to Travis.
McIlroy, 37, tied the knot with former PGA of America employee Erica Stoll in April 2017, before they filed for divorce in May 2024. Just weeks later, the divorce filing was withdrawn as the couple explored a “new beginning”.
The Northern Irish golfer appeared on Travis and his brother Jason Kelce’s New Heights podcast and shared an insight into his Masters Champions Dinner last month. Speaking to Travis, he said: “It’s a bit like, and Travis, you’ll feel this this year. Whenever you’re sitting at your wedding, you have all the people in a room, it’s amazing to have all these people in the same room.
“You’re just sitting there and it’s surreal. It’s unbelievable.” Travis responded: “I can’t wait.” Rory went on to offer his advice when it comes to celebratory drinks, due to his passion for wine and collecting alcoholic beverages.
Travis said: “You gotta give me your wine choice, though. What are we doing for our favourite kind of wine for a celebration? Where are we going?” And Rory’s answer was simple: a French Bordeaux, which Travis said was a “deal”.
Taylor and Travis announced their engagement in August last year in a joint social media post, having been dating since mid-2023. And it appears that the couple will be refraining from discussing their nuptials in the coming weeks.
While Travis’ family have spoken openly about his relationship, they have continually avoided answering questions about the ceremony. Kylie Kelce said on her Not Gonna Lie podcast that she hoped people would stop asking her and Donna Kelce for information, as they were kept in the dark about plans.
She said: “To literally everybody, I know it usually comes from a good place, not always, but quit asking me and my mother-in-law about upcoming nuptials, nobody’s f**king telling you anything, I don’t have any details.”
Donna, Travis’ mother, said she was not deeply involved in the event planning and that her family was good at keeping quiet about things. Meanwhile, Taylor did give a slight insight into her plans in October last year, during an appearance on Heart Breakfast.
She said: “You would think that I had been that type of person who would have obsessed over the idea of a wedding my whole life, but I actually never thought about what I would ever do or what I would want until I met the person.” Travis also hinted that rather than having a DJ, the couple will have live music, with Taylor suggesting her close pal Ed Sheeran may be performing.
“It’s like, ‘Ed, if there’s a stage, you know that you’ll be on it,'” she said, adding: “He knows what people want and he wants to give people what they want.”
