ACB Trap Panchayat Secretary for Accepting Rs.5,000 Bribe

Karimnagar: Panchayat secretary Ramineni Kumaraswamy was caught allegedly accepting a ₹5,000 bribe at Potkapalli in Odela mandal of Peddapalli district for processing house construction permission, police said on Thursday.

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) registered a case against the panchayat secretary. Police said he had allegedly demanded ₹50,000 from a villager for clearing documents related to a house construction permit. According to the complaint, Kumaraswamy allegedly asked the villager to transfer an initial bribe amount of ₹5,000 through PhonePe.

Following the complaint, ACB officials conducted a raid at the Potkapalli gram panchayat office, verified the digital transaction records and took the accused into custody. Officials also seized documents and records from the office for further scrutiny.

The case was registered under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
