Hyderabad: Vigilance officials from Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) seized five motors illegally attached to water pipelines in Uppal zone on Thursday.
The inspections were carried out during water supply hours in Gokulnagar and Nageshnagar under Ramanthapur ward. Officials found consumers directly connecting electric motors to taps and pipelines to draw water and seized motors.
The Water Board said attaching a motor to a pipeline affects water pressure and disrupts supply to nearby households. Officials warned that action would be taken against consumers found using motors in violation of Water Board rules.
According to officials, consumers caught for a second time will have to cough up `5,000 fine and cases will be registered against them.
The board asked residents not to attach motors to taps or pipelines. Consumers facing low water pressure or other supply issues were advised to contact local managers, deputy general managers or general managers concerned.
Complaints can also be registered through the Water Board customer care number 155313, officials said.
