Gillian Anderson has debuted a brand new look with a mass of bouncy blonde curls while at the 79th annual Cannes Film Festival in the South of France on Wednesday
TV and movie star Gillian Anderson has showed off a brand new look at 79th annual Cannes Film Festival as she appeared with a bouncy blonde mane at the photocall for Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma.
The Sex Education star, 57, looked incredible as she swapped her classic smooth blonde look for a dramatic bouffant of bold curls which fell across her shoulders and onto her embroidered, floral butter yellow gown.
The star beamed as she laughed and posed for the cameras on the Cannes red carpet premiere. She styled the look with pale pink lipstick and a simple makeup look complete with simple accessorising, and a pair of maroon strappy heels.

Gillian has be known for her iconic locks. When she first came to fame in The X Files playing Agent Dana Scully, she dyed her hair red and was known for having a sleek ginger bob on and off the screen. In more recent years she has toyed around with her style – while remaining blonde on and off the camera for the past few years.
When the star has opted to debut curls on the red carpet, she has typically opted for a more smooth and styled look, with perfectly coiffed curls that frame her face.
This look on Wednesday in the south of France was a clear departure from her classic style, and gave her pastel outfit a whimsical style that felt both carefree and chic.
The star joined filmmaker Jane Schoenbrun and Hacks star Hannah Einbinder on the red carpet for the project, both of whom opted for all black looks in direct contrast with Gillian’s style.
Directed by Schoenbrun, Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma stars Hannah Einbinder as a filmmaker tasked with remaking a cult zombie slasher film. Gillian stars in the project as a reclusive actress who played the final girl in the original slasher film the director is remaking.
While on the red carpet, Gillian told Variety that she was excited to be back in the horror genre post X Files: “Having spent some time over the last year doing a few Comic Cons, I’ve been reminded of the huge swaths of different populations and their attachment their obsessive nature… in a fandom way and also in terms of the escape of it,” she said. “Because this film is the ultimate escape fodder.”
She was also asked whether she would consider appearing in Ryan Coogler’s X-Files reboot: “That is such a good question that I refuse to answer,” she replied.
