Sharon Stone has announced the death of her musician brother, Mike, in the latest family tragedy for the Basic Instinct actress, who not long ago lost her mum, brother and nephew
Sharon Stone has announced the death of her brother, Mike. Sharon, in recent years, has faced the ultimate heartache following the deaths of her mother, brother, and baby nephew, who was just 11 months and had suffered from organ failure.
She said on social media: “Mike Stone, My oldest brother, Has passed away. Following an extended illness. We wish him peace,” before signing off: “Sharon, Roan, Laird & Quinn.”
Mike, like Sharon, had also worked as an actor, appearing in the likes of Malevolence and Eraser. He also appeared as a counsellor in the 1995 movie, The Quick And The Dead, alongside Sharon, Russell Crowe and Leonardo DiCaprio.
Tributes have since poured in, with DJ and record producer, D-Nice saying: “Sending you love. My deepest condolences to your family.” Kathy Ireland added: “Sharon, I’m so sorry. You and your family are close in my prayers. ‘The Lord is near to the brokenhearted And saves those who are crushed in spirit.’ Psalms 34:18.” Artist Chris Levine commented: “So sorry Sharon,” alongside a broken heart emoji.
Just over a year ago, Sharon’s mum, Dorothy, died aged 91, after suffering from several strokes. In the lead-up to Dorothy’s death, Sharon had cared for her at her home in Beverly Hills.
After losing her mum, Sharon revealed what Dorothy’s final words to her were: “You talk too much, you make me want to commit suicide’ and while people in the room laughed, it was a ‘hard one to go out on.”
But while Sharon and Dorothy had a tough bond, the legendary actress has always praised her mother for teaching her to “stand on her own two feet.” This year also marked three years since her brother, Patrick, died aged 57 in February 2023, having suffered from heart disease. He died in Pennsylvania on Super Bowl Sunday after suffering from a heart attack.
At the time, Patrick’s wife, Tasha, said it was as though her heart had been “ripped out of my chest”. She said: “My heart feels like it’s been ripped out of my chest. Patrick went to be with our sweet River … I don’t know what else to say, he was my world.
“I’m not sure what life is supposed to look like without my husband by my side and quite honestly I don’t want to, but I will of course. I just hope that you always stay by my side watching over Hunter, Kaylee and I.” In a tearful video, Sharon confirmed the news, saying: “Hello everybody, this message is to confirm that, yes, we did lose my brother, Patrick Joseph Stone, to a heart attack yesterday.
“Yes, he is the man who was the father to River who we lost last year at 11 months old. He is survived by his wife Tasha and his son Hunter and his daughter Cailee.” She went on to thank fans for their support while dealing with “immeasurable grief”.
Patrick’s death was just over a year after the death of his 11-month-old son, River, who suffered from organ failure in 2021. At the time, Sharon said: “River William Stone. Sept. 8, 2020 – Aug. 30, 2021,” alongside a clip featuring her late nephew.
Before his death, the Basic Instinct star, who was also River’s godmother, wrote alongside a picture: “My nephew and godson River Stone was found in his crib with total organ failure today. Please pray for him. We need a miracle,” she added – but sadly, the tot never recovered.
