Bhopal: A child’s rough notebook, recovered by the police near the highly decomposed body of a man stuffed inside a sack at an isolated area in Madhya Pradesh’s Raisen district, has finally helped crack the ‘near-perfect blind murder case’.
During the on-the-spot investigation in the case, the police recovered a small bag containing a notebook and a grocery receipt near the body of the man packed inside a sack with his hands and legs tied and mouth taped shut, under a bridge in Sirwara in Raisen district on May seven.
“The body was so decomposed that it could hardly be recognized. It was a near-perfect blind murder case .The notebook, suspected to be a rough notepad of a child, came handy for the investigators to unravel the murder mystery”, a senior police officer of Raisen district said on Wednesday.
In the process of investigation, the police came to the conclusion that the notebook cannot be a regular school notebook and is most likely to be of a tutorial class, attended by the unidentified child.
The notebook was filled with untidy homeworks, math sums, Hindi notes and signatures of a private tutor, according to the police.
The grocery receipt recovered by the police near the corpse mentioned Saikheda, Narasinghpur district in Madhya Pradesh.
The recovery of the rough notebook and the grocery receipt had established that the deceased might have been slain elsewhere and disposed of at the Sirwara bridge, according to the police.
Later the police circulated the rough notebook in various WhatsApp groups including those of teachers, tutors and others in Saikheda, to identify the tutor.
After intense searches, the police traced the tutor who identified his signature and his student.
The police then visited the boy’s home but could not find the child’s family in the house.
The police had then put the informers on alert to track the family which was finally located in Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh.
The notebook which could have been dismissed as useless had become a Centre of the probe in the case, Raisen district superintendent of police Asutosh Gupta said.
Police investigation later found that the murder case was a result of love-triangle involving the deceased, identified as Pappu alias Veer Jat of Rajasthan, his alleged girlfriend who is the boy’s mother, and her former partner Arun Patel.
The investigation led to disclosure that the woman with the help of Patel and the latter’s accomplice Harnam Singh Kirar had allegedly killed Pappu and dumped his body near the highway, police said.
