Maura Higgins took to the Cannes red carpet this year with some classic Hollywood-inspired glam, but it’s her £3 ‘glass skin’ face mask that’s the unsung hero of her beauty routine

Whenever a celeb walks the red carpet all eyes are on their makeup and outfit, but few people talk about the prep that goes in behind the scenes to get them looking so good. Skincare is arguably the most important part of any event prep, as it creates the perfect base for makeup to go on, and it seems Maura Higgins has nailed it.

Her pre-Cannes red carpet prep included the L’Oreal Paris Revitalift Glass Skin Hydrogel Glow Mask, which is one of the most affordable face masks on the market right now. Currently on sale at Boots, you can get a pack of four for just £11.99 (down from £15.99) which means they work out at just £3 each at the moment.

The face masks were inspired by Korean Beauty skincare staples, but whilst many of these types of masks are said to work best when left on overnight, the L’Oreal ones work their magic in just 90 minutes. The Revitalift Glass Skin Hydrogel Glow Mask helps boost hydration and glow, with ingredients that plump and refresh your skin.

It contains derm actives which help hydrate and smooth your skin’s surface for that coveted K-beauty “glass skin look”, and turn the mask clear as they get to work. It also contains hyaluronic acid to plump the skin, glycerin to lock in moisture, and adenosine which smooths, making it the perfect does-it-all mask to use either before events or just as a little pick me up for your skin.

One of the most popular masks that work in a similar way are the Biodance Bio Collagen-Real Deep Mask which are a hit with celebs – and Maura herself has used them in the past. You’ll no doubt have spotted them on TikTok and Instagram, and they’re priced at £15 making them still an affordable option.

Medicube is another Korean beauty brand that’s exploded onto the skincare scene recently and counts Molly-Mae Hague amongst its fans. You can get a pack of four Medicube PDRN Pink Collagen Gel Mask for £26, and they’re gel-infused with PRDRN – also known as salmon DNA – and low molecular collagen which penetrates into multiple layers of skin.

However the Revitalift Glass Skin Hydrogel Glow Mask from L’Oreal has been well-received by shoppers, with one calling it “The best glass skin mask out there.”

Another wrote: “I bought the mask just to try. I’m extremely happy how easy it was to apply it,the result was amazing, skin looked smooth and fresh.”

One did say, though: “I wouldn’t say these are the best skincare masks they feel great on the skin but they’re too big for my face don’t stick on well even after trimming a bit. It doesn’t show that glass skin feeling at the end so would not purchase again.”

Another said: “On reading the instructions I was somewhat shocked to see that the mask needs to be left on for 90 minutes. That is a long time! Because it is in two parts, it was easy to apply. I did notice a difference – my skin felt very hydrated but I would not describe it as glass like.”

But others loved its instant results, saying: “This was my first time trying the new K beauty type gel masks and now I much prefer them over a sheet mask. My mask was on for more than 90 minutes and did not turn fully clear, just a bit in places. But when I peeled it off I definitely had a glass skin effect and my skin felt so smooth and shiny!”
