Hindi actor Rohit Saraf is set to star in Mahakali, the latest addition to the Prasanth Varma Cinematic Universe. It follows the massive success of the 2024 blockbuster Hanu-Man, which collided at the box office with Mahesh Babu’s Guntur Kaaram.

As per the makers, Rohit recently finished his filming schedule in Hyderabad. His character is expected to expand the existing universe through consequential individual actions. The production team believes his presence adds immense value to the ensemble cast. Rohit is highly popular among younger audiences and the Hindi-speaking market. This popularity is useful for the pan-Indian film as it aims for a good reach in Hindi.

The movie, by the way, also features veteran Bollywood actor Akshaye Khanna, who was seen in the first edition of Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar last year. In Mahakali, Akshaye is expected to play a spiritually powerful character.

Coming back to Rohit Saraf, he gained initial recognition with his role in Dear Zindagi. He later appeared in the acclaimed film Hichki. Many viewers know him best for his work in The Sky Is Pink. Ludo, a dark comedy, also made him a sought-after artist. His performance in the Netflix series Mismatched made him a household name among youth. He recently appeared in the Hindi remake of Vikram Vedha.

The Prasanth Varma Cinematic Universe is an ambitious project rooted in Indian mythology. It began with Hanu-Man, which starred Teja Sajja in a script with superhero tropes. The universe focuses on indigenous stories told with modern visual effects. Each film introduces new characters who eventually connect in a larger narrative landscape. Jai Hanuman, starring Kantara fame Rishab Shetty in the lead, is currently in the making. The film, too, belongs to the PVCU.
