‘Pati Patni Aur Woh Do’ Review, Wild Comedy, Chaos, And Confusion Backed By A Fast-Paced Screenplay

Pati Patni Aur Woh Do has finally arrived on the big screen on May 15, 2026, after months of speculation. Back in 2019, the first film became an unexpected hit, despite being a remake. In today’s era, where sequels are not being accepted by the audience unless it has good content, Pati Patni Aur Woh Do hinted at a fun ride when the trailer was released.

The cast is completely new, with Ayushmann Khurrana in the lead, alongside Sara Ali Khan, Rakul Preet Singh, and Wamiqa Gabbi. Comedy films have always provided only one rule for the audience over the years: “Keep your brains at home and don’t look for logic.” The new sequel undoubtedly follows the same route as the previous film, but with more memorable moments. Pati Patni Aur Woh Do provides a lot of entertainment without offending anyone

Movies with a concept of one guy and multiple women are not so uncommon. Filmmakers of every generation have tested this formula, and a few of them have also succeeded. Viewers have been looking for something out of the box from Bollywood after the massive success of Dhurandhar. Pati Patni Aur Woh Do undoubtedly brings something fresh despite having a subject that is expected to look a little outdated.

Films of this genre have always been accused of promoting the concept of cheating in relationships and marriage, or disrespecting women in the worst way possible. But Pati Patni Aur Woh Do is not like others. Mudassar Aziz, the writer and director, deserves credit for bringing a completely different situation to the concept of infidelity, which will not receive any criticism.

The lead character, ‘Prajapati,’ played by Ayushmann Khurrana, is satisfied with his life as he is happily married to ‘Aparna’ (Wamiqa Gabbi) and has a job as a forest officer. They even have a friend named ‘Nilofar’ (Rakul Preet Singh), who is frequently a part of their daily lives. Everything is fine until ‘Prajapati’ meets his friend, ‘Chanchal Kumari’ (Sara Ali Khan), who changes the lives of ‘Prajapati’ and everyone else around him.

Short runtime works in favour of Pati Patni Aur Woh Do

Comedy is a genre that is best enjoyed if things are not stretched beyond a certain limit. Pati Patni Aur Woh Do succeeds in this case as it has a tight and engaging screenplay. There are zero moments where viewers would like to take a break or a short nap. Loud moments are expected in such films, as there is chaos and confusion all around. But it does not hamper the entire experience at the same time since the conversations are interesting and genuinely funny.

The short runtime helps the film to avoid the big problems. The first half specifically moves at a very fast pace without any unnecessary scenes. It does not feel dragged anywhere, and the same speed is maintained in the second half, leading up to the climax. The back-to-back entertainment does not end at any point because the actors are always busy with something on screen, and that is going to hold the attention of the audience.

The elements of the film might look repeated. But the new presentation is what makes it so different. It follows the pattern of one lie leading to more lies. The jokes land well in a lot of places. A few of them might not be the ones that are common in family films. However, the writing covers the vulgar angle, making it more enjoyable instead of creating debate. The music works, although the compositions could have been a little better.

Pati Patni Aur Woh Do offers sufficient scope to all the actors to shine on screen

With one actor and three actresses, it is expected that Ayushmann Khurrana will take away the spotlight. But that is not true. The writing is the biggest highlight of Pati Patni Aur Woh Do since it provides equal opportunity to each actor, including the supporting ones, to show their capabilities. Starting with Ayushmann, the actor once again proves that he is a perfect fit for these kinds of films. He maintains the charm despite playing a forest officer. His dialogue delivery also works, making anyone recall some of his other roles in the past.

Wamiqa Gabbi appears natural, and she has a meaty role in the film. Anyone who had been disappointed with her character in Bhooth Bangla won’t have complaints, as the writing allows her to give her best on screen. Rakul Preet Singh is equally good. Although the trailer hinted that the character might be something over-the-top, it is very different in the film. Sara Ali Khan is a big surprise as she looks confident and maintains her screen presence with a lot of comfort.

Among the supporting roles, Timangshu Dhulia’s versatility is going to leave an impression. The same can be said for Ayesha Raza Mishra, who gets to play a character that is very relatable to real life. Vijay Raaz is also outstanding and shows that he cannot be a wrong choice for comedy films. The other actors, including Durgesh Kumar and Guneet Singh, portray their roles with perfection.
