The Hague [Netherlands]: Prime Minister Narendra Modi received an enthusiastic welcome from the Indian community in The Hague on Saturday during the second leg of his five-nation tour. Cultural and classical performances were organised to greet the Prime Minister upon his arrival.

PM Modi interacted warmly with members of the Indian diaspora and watched performances at the hotel. Artists who performed during the event expressed happiness over meeting the Prime Minister.

“We performed Garba to welcome PM Modi. We interacted with him, and we are all very happy,” artist Gautam told ANI.

Another performer, Reema, described the experience as “amazing” and said the group felt delighted to perform in front of the Prime Minister.

Earlier, PM Modi arrived at Amsterdam Airport, where he was received by Rear Admiral Ludger Brummelaar, Adjutant-General and Chief of the Military Household of His Majesty the King, Dutch Foreign Minister Tom Berendsen, Indian Ambassador to the Netherlands Kumar Tuhin, and other Dutch officials.

In a post on X, PM Modi said he would hold talks with Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten and meet King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima. He also said he looked forward to addressing the Indian community in the Netherlands.

“Landed in Amsterdam. This visit to the Netherlands comes at a time when the India-EU Free Trade Agreement has given a major impetus to trade and investment linkages,” PM Modi wrote, adding that discussions would focus on semiconductors, water, clean energy and other sectors.

PM Modi is on a five-nation tour from May 15 to 20. Before arriving in the Netherlands, he visited the United Arab Emirates, where he met UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and reaffirmed India’s support for the Gulf nation amid regional tensions in West Asia.

During the meeting, PM Modi described the UAE as his “second home” and thanked the Emirati leadership for the warm welcome and support extended to the Indian community living there.
