Long lines outside the MCG

By Danny Russell

There are huge queues outside gate three at the MCG.

The lines are moving, but it seems an expected crowd of up to 70,000 has all arrived at the same time for this 4.15pm match.

The TV coverage has begun on Kayo Sports and the stands don’t look near as full as they should be. Hopefully, the MCG staff can get fans into the ground as soon as possible.

Both teams are on the ground for the pregame ceremony and Welcome to Country.

Hawks’ former ‘shrugging lairiser’ to reach milestone

Hawthorn coach Sam Mitchell has praised Jack Ginnivan’s evolution from a “shrugging lairiser” to a key part of the Hawks’ premiership push.

Ginnivan, and dynamic forward Connor Macdonald, will make their 100th AFL appearances when Hawthorn face red-hot Melbourne at the MCG on Saturday.

Macdonald will become the first Hawk to debut under Mitchell’s coaching to reach the three-figure milestone.

Ginnivan played 42 games for Collingwood, switching to the Hawks after the Magpies’ 2023 grand final win.
