Everyone loves getting a present every now and then – and the rich and famous are no different. Former Superman actor Henry Cavill looked absolutely delighted to be given a special surprise on the set of his latest film, and fans are loving it.

Henry, 43, is currently in Poland filming a remake of 1986 fantasy-action movie Highlander. And one fan surprised him with a gift they knew he’d love.

Images on social media show Henry on the opposite side of a metal fence, with a massive grin on his face at being presented with a box of miniatures for the game Warhammer 40,000. The Man of Steel actor, who was born in Jersey, has often spoken of his love for the tabletop game, known by fans as 40k.

The game, set in a science-fiction universe where races made up of humans, aliens, and robots, face off in endless war, involves players each commanding an army of miniature figures around a battlefield, following complex turn-based rules to battle until their opponent is defeated. Most players hand-paint their figures, giving each person the opportunity to personalise their army.

There are a number of different types of army to collect and command, each with their own subset so players can pick which appeals to them the most. Henry has previously said he uses the Adeptus Custodes, genetically-engineered warriors dedicated to defending the Emperor of the Universe. And it was a box of these which the fan reportedly presented him with.

According to Polish entertainment website GRYOnline, the fan is the owner of a nearby store which sells Warhammer 40,000 items. They later posted an image of an Ultramarines helmet signed by Henry with the caption: “New store artefact blessed by Henry himself!”

Fans on Reddit loved the pictures. One said: “He looks like a shelter dog getting excited when someone shows it a toy.”

Another wrote: “That’s awesome. I know he’s a rich dude but genuinely happy for him because you just know he damn well appreciates it.”

Someone else said: “Even if you have money, getting a gift of something you really like by someone else is always a million times more exciting than buying something yourself.”

The remake of Highlander is directed by Chad Stakelski, the man behind the John Wick films. Alongside Henry, it also stars Russell Crowe in the role played in the original by Sir Sean Connery, Dave Bautista as villain The Kurgan, and Dr Who’s Karen Gillen. Scenes were filmed, appropriately, in the Scottish Highlands earlier this month. The movie will be released next year.

Henry is also currently working with Amazon Studios on a live-action Warhammer 40,000 series, although details of when we’ll be able to see it remain firmly under wraps. He is also reportedly in the running to succeed Daniel Craig as James Bond.
