With it being my last season, it’s special to give the fans another trophy – hopefully not the last one. Since I arrived it’s been 20, so that’s not bad. I’m just really happy to have enjoyed all of these moments with my teammates and with the fans.”

He also said he hopes manager Pep Guardiola stays: “That’s his decision. It’s not for me to comment on that. I want the best for him and for Manchester City. Pep being the best manager in the world, if he stays that’s obviously better. But it’s his decision.”

Guardiola has now won 20 major trophies at the club. But his work isn’t quite done yet, as he turns his attention to the Premier League title race, with his team set to face off against Bournemouth in an away game on Tuesday.

City will finish their season playing Aston Villa at home on the final day on Sunday with a 4pm kick off. Meanwhile, Chelsea will face Tottenham on Tuesday in an 8.15pm match before completing their Premier League campaign at Sunderland on Sunday, also at 4pm.
