Visakhapatnam: Bheemili MLA Ganta Srinivasa Rao expressed his anger after finding empty liquor bottles in the premises of Madhurawada Primary Health Centre during a surprise inspection on Saturday as part of the Swachh Andhra-Swarnandhra programme.

Pulling up the PHC staff, he asked how patients would believe in the treatment provided at the hospital under the circumstances.
Local residents informed the MLA that cattle frequently enter the hospital premises. Anti-social elements use the premises for consuming alcohol during nights. Further, residents complained that the garbage dumped in front of the hospital is causing unbearable stench in the area.
Ganta inspected the wards and interacted with patients regarding the medical services being provided. He later spoke to Medical Officer Deepika and expressed dissatisfaction over the cleanliness and patient services.
Right from the hospital, the MLA contacted the District Medical and Health Officer and asked him to immediately rectify the shortcomings and improve healthcare facilities.
Ganta asked police personnel to monitor the PHC premises during their night beat and prevent entry of anti-social elements.
