Amaravati’s First Set of Multi-storey Residential Towers Nearing Completion

Vijayawada: Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is fast-tracking the development of Amaravati, with the government focusing on completing the first set of multi-storey residential towers and other infrastructure to operationalise the capital city in phases.

In the first phase, construction of MLA and MLC quarters with modern amenities is nearing completion. A total of 288 residential units spread across 12 towers would be handed over to the general administration department by this monthend.

Naidu said, “Construction activity across Amaravati has gathered remarkable momentum over the past few months, particularly the residential complexes meant for legislators, ministers and senior officials. The government has prioritised housing facilities to ensure the smooth functioning of administration from the capital city.”

The construction of MLA and MLC quarters with modern amenities is nearing completion. While exterior works over, interior finishing works are in the final stage. The government plans to allot the quarters before the legislatures’ monsoon session.

The residential towers have been designed on the lines of a modern gated community with high-end facilities like swimming pools, club houses, hospital services, children’s play areas, basketball courts and advanced security systems. Development of internal roads, footpaths, green belts and landscaped gardens is also progressing.

Officials said the government is simultaneously strengthening the drinking water, drainage, electricity and gas supply networks.

Urban development minister Ponguru Narayana said ,026 residential units for government officials are currently under construction. The MLA towers would be handed over within a week, while MLC quarters would be ready in another 15 to 20 days. Residences for IAS and IPS officers, along with ministers’ bungalows, are also in the final stages of completion.

Meanwhile, work on 35 ministers’ bungalows inside the government complex is progressing. Spread over 26.09 acres, the G+1 bungalows are being developed with modern infrastructure and lifestyle amenities, including a swimming pool, a hospital and a clubhouse.

The government is also accelerating the pending works on quarters for IAS, IPS and Group-1 to Group-4 employees. The remaining works are now being executed in a fast mode.

Officials expressed confidence that the first phase of Amaravati’s development would be completed within the next three years, paving the way for full-fledged administrative operations from the capital city.
