A woman is feared dead after she was struck by a ute in a multi-vehicle pile up just south of Brisbane.

The crash occurred on the Pacific Motorway between Beenleigh and Loganholme in Logan just before 4pm on Monday, amid heavy rain.

Reports from emergency services at the scene suggested the woman was involved in a collision, and got out of her car to speak to the other driver before being struck by a passing ute.

The woman sustained critical injuries, and multiple other cars then crashed behind.

Rain was falling for much of the afternoon, and visibility was poor.

The road was closed, and traffic was still backed out for more than 10 kilometres about three hours after the crash.

Police said the road would not reopen until investigations were complete.

The man driving the ute was speaking to police on Monday night.
