Actor Yash has finally opened up about the delay surrounding Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups. In his latest interaction with Variety, the KGF star explained why the action entertainer’s release has taken longer than expected.

Logistics and global distribution are the prime reasons

Yash, who is also one of the producers of Toxic, shared that there is a major difference between the Indian and Western release systems. According to him, films in the West are usually completed and locked before marketing begins. Studios there also finalize release dates much earlier.

He added that overseas distributors generally do not buy theatrical rights unless they watch the finished product first. Since massive investments are involved, nobody wants to take risks. Yash also pointed out that logistics and global distribution plans have contributed to the delay. The Kannada actor, who has shot Toxic in English as well, suggested that Indian audiences are used to films arriving within a fixed timeline once shooting begins. However, Toxic is following a different strategy altogether.

Toxic postponed indefinitely

Directed by Geetu Mohandas, Toxic stars Yash alongside Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria, and Rukmini Vasanth. Recently, the makers postponed the film yet again. This time, no revised release date has been announced, with the team stating that they are working towards a globally aligned release strategy.

The makers revealed that the response received at CinemaCon 2026 opened up new international opportunities for the film. They also thanked fans for their patience and continued support during the postponement. The film’s action choreography is led by Hollywood action director JJ Perry, known for staging iconic sequences in John Wick, Fast & Furious, and Day Shift. Last year, Perry helmed a 45-day action schedule during the Mumbai leg of the shoot.

Apart from Toxic, Yash is also preparing for Ramayana. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the mythological drama stars Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi, with Yash playing Ravana in the ambitious big-budget project.
