
A district court in Rajanna Sircilla on Monday sentenced 10 persons to life imprisonment in a murder case arising out of a love affair. Each of the convicts was also fined ₹6,500. District Principal Judge P. Neeraja delivered the judgment in connection with the killing of Tuniki Laxminarayana in Stambampalli village of Boinpalli mandal.
According to the prosecution, Laxminarayana’s younger son, Mahesh, was in a relationship with the daughter of Bongani Parasharamulu, which was opposed by her family. Ten members of the girl’s family and relatives allegedly attacked Mahesh’s house with wooden logs and iron rods. Laxminarayana sustained grievous injuries in the assault and later died during treatment.
Based on a complaint lodged by the victim’s wife, Tuniki Vijaya, Boinpalli police registered a case and arrested the accused.
The chargesheet was filed by then Vemulawada Rural circle inspector K. Naveen Kumar. During the trial, 20 witnesses were examined by the prosecution under the supervision of additional SP B. Chandraiah, with support from investigating and court staff.
Public Prosecutor Penta Srinivas represented the prosecution. The court, after examining scientific evidence and eyewitness testimony, found all the accused guilty and awarded life imprisonment.
District SP Mahesh B. Gite said, “The judgment proves no criminal can escape the law. He heavily commended the entire police and prosecution team for their meticulous coordination in securing the convictions.”
