At Vogue Wedding Atelier’s Evening with the Editor in Chennai, conversations around legacy soon turned to weddings, one of the places where family rituals and personal choice are most clearly felt: guest lists growing smaller, dressing becoming more individual and long-held traditions taking on new meaning.

Hosted by Rochelle Pinto, Head of Editorial Content, Vogue India, alongside friend of Vogue Pavitra Sagar at ITC Grand Chola, the evening brought together guests from across fashion, beauty and entrepreneurship. Florals courtesy Decor by Dinaz filled the space with blooms and layered textures, while gifting partners Ahujasons and RAS brought in two distinct expressions of legacy and inheritance. Ahujasons presented fine pashmina shawls detailed with geometric patterns inspired by ikat traditions and finished with delicate zari, while RAS brought its farm-to-face approach to botanical skincare, drawing on traditional knowledge, ritual and ingredient-led beauty.

The evening’s jewellery partner, GoluBhai Badalia Diamond, brought its own three-generation history into the room through pieces that drew on craftsmanship and a focus on exceptional stones. Across the evening, jewellery appeared in markedly different forms: long gold strands worn over black silhouettes, diamonds in varied settings, emerald chokers paired with jumpsuits and layered gemstones worn with fluid separates. Fine jewellery moved freely across silhouettes and settings without losing its link to inheritance.

“Indian weddings bring together traditions, century-old rituals, food, fashion, music and dance under one roof,” said Sagar. At the same time, she pointed to how noticeably weddings are changing. “The modern Indian bride is more unapologetic,” she said. “Guest lists are becoming smaller, but every detail feels more considered.”
