Hyderabad:Rachakonda police have busted an inter-state racket involved in the transport and sale of counterfeit cotton seeds, arresting four persons and seizing 600 kg of banned BT-3 seeds at Hayathnagar.
The LB Nagar special operations team (SOT), along with officials of the agriculture department and Hayathnagar police, carried out the operation based on specific intelligence inputs. Police said the accused were transporting fake BT-3 cotton seeds from Nandyal district to sell them to farmers in Telangana ahead of the monsoon agricultural season.
During the operation, the team intercepted the consignment near Pedda Amberpet and seized seeds valued at several lakhs, along with two vehicles and four mobile phones. Officials said the racket was aimed at defrauding farmers by supplying banned and counterfeit seeds. Further investigation is underway.
