Zayn Malik’s comeback has hit the headlines again after the star was forced to axe 22 dates from his solo tour after he was hospitalised following a health scare
Zayn Malik’s eagerly awaited comeback isn’t exactly going to plan. The former One Direction star, 33, sent fans into a frenzy when he announced he was making music again but then was forced to cut 22 dates from his solo tour after he was hospitalised following a health scare.
Fans were devasted when the Pillowtalk singer shared a snap from his hospital bed as he recovered from a mystery illness. Thanking his supporters, he promised to “better and stronger than before”.
However, now he is facing fresh drama after a Q&A on Thursday. Zayn took part in the event at Banquet Records in Kingston when things took a turn after fans reportedly started throwing water bottles at him after two Q&As were condensed into one to avoid “scheduling conflicts”.
A clip of the moment was shared on X as he appeared to dodge one of the flying bottles as he left the stage. The caption read: “Zayn was almost hit in the face by a hurled water bottle while leaving his Q&A event.”
Explaining the schedule switch-up before the Q&A began, Banquet Records announced on social media: “Due to a last minute scheduling conflict, the 4pm and 6pm events will be merged.
“Don’t worry – the venue will still be within safe capacity. If you have tickets for both the 4pm and 6pm shows, you will be refunded for one event, if you have entered the venue.
“Email mailorder@banquetrecords.com with ‘ZAYN merge’ as your email subject. You’ll need to include both you 4pm and 6pm order numbers. Apologies for the obvious inconvenience here, due to circumstances beyond our control.”
But fans weren’t happy. Jumping on X, one fumed: “OMG Zayn is so incredibly unprofessional please never work w/him again!!!” Another said: “Oh my God, so the 6pm people don’t have a chance to be close?”
A follower argued: “My friend who was waiting for the 6pm event was in front of the line and as the events are merged, she is now at the back because the 4pm people are before her, I know it’s not your fault but it’s so unfair.”
Meanwhile an X user mused: “On the day of? When people have probably built their day around the time they had booked?”
It comes after the star thanked fans for their messages before revealing that he has had to pull the plug on various dates of his upcoming tour. In the post, he wrote: “Thank you so much for all the support and love you’ve shown me on the album release and more importantly your love, prayers, and well wishes for my health. I’ve felt it, and it’s meant the world.
“I’ve been at home recovering and I’m doing well and will be better and stronger than before. I’ve had to take another look at my schedule for the months ahead and have to reduce the number of shows on the KONNAKOL Tour.” He then shared a link to the updated schedule.
The singer will perform in London and Manchester next month, with further gigs lined up in Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Brazil and Peru later this year.
