Actor-composer Vijay Antony is all set to headline another emotionally driven entertainer with Appa Kutty, an upcoming Tamil action drama directed by Mu Maran. The makers officially announced the project on Thursday along with a striking first-look poster that has already caught the attention of fans online.
The intense poster features a bruised and battered Vijay Antony carrying his daughter on his shoulders while walking through a chaotic setting. The visual instantly hints at a story rooted in sacrifice, survival and emotional conflict, while also teasing the film’s action-heavy tone. Going by the first glimpse, Appa Kutty appears to place the emotional bond between a father and daughter at the heart of its narrative.

According to the makers, Appa Kutty blends action, sentiment and family drama, making it a film aimed at both commercial audiences and family viewers. Actor Preethi Asrani plays the female lead in the film. The supporting cast includes Bagavathi Perumal, Muthu Kumar, Jenson Dhivakar, Aruvi Madhan, Chithra Lakshmanan, Muruganantham, Praveena, Haripriya Isai and Lizzie Antony in pivotal roles.
The film’s technical crew includes cinematographer Rajeev Rajendran and production designer A Raja. Dialogues have been jointly written by Mu Maran and writer Puthiya Parithi.
The makers have confirmed that shooting for Appa Kutty has already been completed and the film is currently in post-production. With work progressing steadily, the team is eyeing an August theatrical release.
Vijay Antony was last seen in Shakthi Thirumagan, and Appa Kutty is expected to showcase him in yet another emotionally intense role that balances action with sentiment.
