Brooklyn Beckham’s wife, Nicola Peltz, accused dog groomers, Houndspa LLC, of killing her precious pet Chihuahua, Nala, who the heiress said she treated ‘like her child’
Nicola Peltz has dropped her legal battle against the dog groomers she accused of being responsible for the death of her pet, it has been claimed.
The wife of Brooklyn Beckham, 31, was heartbroken after her beloved Chihuahua, Nala, died, two years ago, aged nine. Nicola claimed Nala died just two hours post-grooming by HoundSpa employee Jony Ceballos. She then launched a lawsuit against Ceballos, HoundSpa LLC, and the company’s owner Deborah Gittleman in the Supreme Court of the State of New York, County of Westchester.
In legal documents, the heiress alleged that Nala’s demise was a result of Ceballos’ alleged “intentional and malicious abuse of dogs.”
The paperwork, obtained by People Magazine, further stated: “Nala went into the grooming van, a happy, healthy dog, but returned injured and in severe physical distress – breathing heavily and wheezing, with her chest pulsating. Nala’s tongue was blue, she had fluid in her lungs, and she suffered neurological damage.”
Ceballos, who worked at the mobile dog grooming company, denied all allegations of wrongdoing. His lawyers argued that Nicola’s lawsuit failed “to state a cause of action” and that she “failed to perform as contractually provided.” In addition, his lawyer said Nicola was “liable for her comparative negligence.”
However, documents signed earlier this month at the New York Supreme Court indicate that all parties have now agreed to permanently discontinue the lawsuit without paying costs, expenses or legal fees to each other.
The lawyer for Houndspa and its owner Deborah Gittleman, Anthony J Siano, told the Mail: “The civil litigation involving the passing of Ms Peltz Beckham’s dog, Nala, has been discontinued.
“All parties to that civil action have exchanged extensive documentation and all parties concluded that the death of Nala was not intentional.
“All persons involved in the matter share the grief and disappointment that comes from the passing of Nala.”
In 2024, Nicola took to Instagram, sharing her heartbreak over Nala’s death, sharing that it had been “the hardest month of my life”.
“I can’t even find the words to describe my heartbreak on so many levels,” she added. “Her life was taken away from her way too soon. She was my beautiful queen and stayed by my side for 9 years through everything.”
The Mirror has contacted Nicola’s reps for comment.
