Capital Breakfast star Jordan North has revealed that he was once left stunned after a very awkward encounter with a jet-lagged Hollywood legend, Ashton Kutcher

Radio star Jordan North had a very awkward run-in with Ashton Kutcher. Being the face of Capital FM‘s Breakfast Show, Jordan has a front row seat with some of the biggest names in entertainment, whether it be singers or film stars.

And despite having worked in radio since 2011, it’s fair to say that Jordan, who grew up in Burnley, still finds himself completely blown away by his job and can be left speechless by some of the comments he makes to people along the way.

Speaking to the Mirror, Jordan revealed there have been “a few” times when he’s walked away from speaking to A-listers and questioned what he said. He said: “I seen Ashton Kutcher and he was very jet-lagged, he had his sunglasses on and he showed me his eyes.

“I said ‘They’re like p**sholes in the snow‘, I don’t know if it’s because he didn’t understand the Northern twang, or he was genuinely offended. He was great at interviewing, he was lovely, but as soon as he walked out, I was like, ‘Why did I say that to one of the biggest Hollywood stars?'”

Despite the hesitation, Jordan explained that people on the radio need to be themselves; as listeners work out whether people aren’t being truly authentic. With his work on the Breakfast Show alongside Chris Stark and Sian Welby, Jordan has to set an ungodly alarm clock in the early hours of the morning.

This is something he is still adjusting to. “Some weeks are better than others, some weeks you’re just shattered, and you get used to it,” he said, adding that the trio consume “plenty of coffee”. He went on to add: “At the end of the day, we’re not digging up roads. We’re just having a laugh with our mates on the show. And we’ve got a team that works really hard, and we put a lot of prep and effort into it.

“We don’t just fart out a radio show every day, we think really hard about it, we’re very lucky, so you’ve got to remember that whenever you feel a bit moany or whinging. But while Jordan wakes up millions every day and also stands on stage in front of 80,000 people at the Capital FM Summertime Ball, he’s still no stranger to stage fright.

And taking part in I’m A Celebrity during the Wales year was the “best thing” he ever did, as it allowed him to break out of his comfort zone. He commented that he’s turned down opportunities over the years due to this. Offering advice to people in a similar position, Jordan said: “You’ve just got to do it, it’s really good to get out of your comfort zone.

“It makes you a stronger person. The best way to prepare for failure is to over-prepare, just prep. When I get on stage, I make sure I know what I’m doing and make sure that I’m comfortable. The best thing is just to breathe – I know it sounds obvious, just breathe. We’re all the same, we’re all anxious and have worries and fears, that’s what you’ve got to remember, we’re all human.”

This year, Jordan is making his debut for Soccer Aid for UNICEF and admits that saying it out loud “makes his foot itch” due to nerves. “I can do telly and radio fine, but I get stage fright really bad,” he said, adding: “This is going to be a big test for me personally, but I’m sure I’ll be alright.”

Jordan had previously attended a Soccer Aid match with a pal at Manchester United’s ground in 2012, and this has only spurred on his enthusiasm for taking part. “I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t terrified as well,” he joked, adding that he was more “nervous”. Speaking of the upcoming match, he said: “It’s really competitive, and even though it’s my debut, I’ve been told the training week is super serious, you’ll have to work hard, it’s not all fun and games. I know for a fact that the celebs and players for the England team really want to win.”

Last year, England lost out on the trophy to the World XI team, but this year, Jordan’s game plan to ensure a win will be “do as he’s told”. “I know for a fact I’ll do as a told, listen to the coach, [Wayne] Rooney, Jill Scott, those are the top players, get in line,” he laughed.

This year, he has Rooney, Toni Duggan, Jill and Theo Walcott on his team, but Jordan admits his dream teammate would be Manchester United icon, David Beckham. He gushed: “I grew up watching him. I was a child in the Nineties and 2000s, and he was one of England’s best players.

“But being on the same team as Wayne Rooney, you can’t argue with that!” Speaking of Rooney, he added: “He’s England’s top goal scorer, so it’s a bit mad that I’m going to be playing with him.” However, he is anxious to go up against World XI this year, which includes Leonardo Bonucci, Jordi Alba and Edwin van der Sar as professional stars, as well as Harry Aikines-Aryeetey, Dermot Kennedy and Usain Bolt as celebrities.

Speaking of Harry, also known as Nitro from Gladiators, Jordan laughed: “Have you seen them on the telly? Absolute beast – built like a brick house. Nitro, us going head to head, I’m a bit worried, I might end up getting squashed,” laughing that he hopes he doesn’t get injured. But could Jordan see Soccer Aid ever making a trip to Turf Moor, the home of his beloved Burnley?

Absolutely, he believes and praises the event for often moving out of London and making the match affordable for people. “They’re all pretty reasonably priced, adults from £20, kids from £10. So I like that it moves around the country,” he said. But while Jordan praises the event for being affordable, he jokes that it’s not just a “friendly game” given its competitive nature. “Whoever you support, when you come down on the day, you’ll be fully behind your team, whether it’s England or World XI,” Jordan said.

He added: “It’s like the World Cup, once it’s on, even if you’re not the biggest soccer fan, you get it into it, end up loving it and becoming really passionate.”
