After building a big fan base as ‘Harry Da Souza’ in MobLand, Tom Hardy won’t reprise his role in the third season of the series. The show premiered in June 2025. Notably, the latest development arrives at a time when the second season has not premiered yet on Paramount+. Apart from Tom, the show features an ensemble cast which includes Pierce Brosnan, Paddy Considine, Joanne Froggatt, Lara Pulver, and many others.
While Tom Hardy’s exit from the third season has left his fans in shock, keep reading to learn the circumstances that allegedly led to this decision.
Why Tom Hardy exited the third season of MobLand?

Although the producers of MobLand have not responded to the new claims, Puck News first shared the report of Tom Hardy’s exit on May 21, 2026. Tom Hardy allegedly had a dispute with the production on the sets of the show, leading to his exit from Season 3.

TMZ also confirmed the news. The outlet referred to their source, saying that while Tom is not returning to the series again, a final decision has not been made so far. Furthermore, things are still moving and are expected to witness some changes. This is specifically because MobLand has not received an official renewal for a third season so far.

The report by Puck stated that Tom reportedly had a lot of issues with producers, Jez Butterworth and David Glasser. Jez then said that either he was going to stay or Tom, following which Butterworth was allegedly prioritised by Paramount. The network has maintained silence on the matter for now. On the other hand, Deadline stated that Tom also had problems with his co-stars, and he reportedly arrived late on the set of the show.

What is the current status of MobLand Season 3?
The alleged exit of Tom Hardy from MobLand has now raised a lot of questions about the future of Season 3. Although it has not been renewed, The Hollywood Reporter stated that the writers’ room for a potential third season is already open. The second season is arriving as scheduled, as the production of the same was completed in March 2026.

While Tom’s alleged dispute with the producers has created headlines, similar incidents linked with him have also emerged at the same time. One of them happened during the filming of Mad Max: Fury Road, where Tom and his co-star, Charlize Theron, could not work together. Director George Miller once recalled the clash in an interview, addressing that it was due to the fact that they were very different when it came to performances. George continued by saying:
“I’m an optimist, so I saw their behaviour as mirroring their characters, where they had to learn to cooperate in order to ensure mutual survival. There’s no excuse for it, and I think there’s a tendency in this business to use great performances as an excuse for other disruption that could be avoided.”
MobLand is created by Ronan Bennett. The main premise focuses on the ‘Harrigans,’ a family involved with the criminal world for a long time. They have a confrontation with the ‘Stevensons.’ ‘Harry Da Souza’ is working for the ‘Harrigans’ and is asked to observe the conflict that might put their empire in danger.
