Is The Mandalorian Season 4 cancelled for the film, The Mandalorian and Grogu?
It’s been three years since the series, The Mandalorian Season 3 premiered on Disney+. For the uninitiated, The Mandalorian Season 3 premiered on March 1, 2023. Now that the franchise has released the film, The Mandalorian and Grogu, rumours are rife that The Mandalorian Season 4 has been cancelled. Director, Jon explained during an interview with Collider that the film was originally planned as The Mandalorian Season 4. But due to the 2023 SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes, he and Dave Filoni changed their plan. He was quoted as saying:
“The priorities changed when what I had written as a season 4 before the work stoppage. That was pushed to the side, and we came up with a new script together. So, it has a different feel than a season of television, which acknowledges that you’ve seen all three coming before. We wanted to have this be an understandable enough standalone experience, so that if a fan wants to bring somebody who may not be as familiar, they’ll still have a good time. But the details are still there, and it does, I think, feed into the time period.”
