What began as a fun test drive in a new ended in police custody for a 32-year-old man after he drove at over 200 kmph on the Outer Ring Road (ORR), completed a 120-km trip in nearly an hour and uploaded videos on Instagram.
Narsingi police said they booked Kothapalli Yashwanth Reddy, a private company employee residing at Alkapoor Township in Puppalguda, for rash and negligent driving endangering public safety.
According to police, the incident took place on May 10 at around 10.30 am, when Yashwanth Reddy drove the car temporary registration number TGTR2026 from Narsingi toll plaza towards TGPA toll plaza on the ORR at speeds exceeding 200 kmph. Police said the accused entered the ORR from Entry No. 18(A) and allegedly covered nearly 120 kilometres within an hour, reportedly to test the condition of the car he had purchased in April this year.
During questioning, the accused reportedly admitted to driving at excessive speed. Police seized the vehicle and warned motorists against reckless driving and posting dangerous stunts online, saying such acts endangered innocent road users and invited strict legal action.
