Nellore: Adani Krishnapatnam Port Limited (AKPL) on Monday successfully carried out a specialised double banking operation, demonstrating its advanced marine infrastructure and operational capabilities.
The operation involved MT AU Libra berthed alongside MT Spica while both vessels simultaneously discharged edible oil cargo. Officials said double banking is a complex marine activity in which one vessel is positioned alongside another for parallel cargo handling, requiring meticulous planning, specialised infrastructure, trained manpower and strict safety measures.
AKPL management said the successful execution reflects the port’s continued investments in modern infrastructure, equipment and personnel training. The initiative is expected to improve berth utilisation, reduce vessel turnaround time and ease congestion at the port.
Officials added that reduced vessel stay would lower fuel consumption and emissions, contributing to environmentally sustainable port operations.
