Vernon Kay has giben fresh hope that he and ex-Strictly host Tess Daly could reunite just kwees after announcing they had split after he was spottedwearing his wedding ring

Just days after announcing their shock separation, Tess Daly and Vernon Kay were pictured partying together at a festival – leaving fans hopeful they might be open to giving their marriage a second chance.

The former couple appeared happy and at ease in one another’s company as they let their hair down alongside friends and fans at Pub In The Park, despite confirming their decision to split just a week earlier.

In a joint statement, BBC Radio 2 presenter Vernon and former Strictly Come Dancing host Tess announced they were “amicably” ending their 23-year marriage – and judging by their united front at the event, they’re staying true to their word.

The pair, who are parents to Phoebe, 21, and Amber, who turns 17 this week, happily posed for photos with fans and were also snapped beaming alongside their close pal, former Hollyoaks actor Will Mellor.

Later, Tess, 57, was seen dancing the night away with Vernon, 52, at the food and music extravaganza in Marlow, Buckinghamshire. As Vernon was still wearing his wedding ring, some fans have been left hopeful that a reconciliation could be on the cards. Last week, Vernon’s father broke his silence on their break-up and urged his son not to rush into another relationship too soon, saying he still has “plenty of time”.

Opening up about the shock news, Norman Kay said it was “sad” that the pair had decided to go their separate ways, adding that they made “a lovely couple”. But he went on to admit that Tess and Vernon, who first got together at a BBC Christmas party in 2001, had “gone in different directions” over the years.

Spelling out his hopes for their future, Norman heaped praise on his daughter-in-law, saying, “Tess is a lovely woman and we want to make sure everyone is alright in this – her, Vernon and obviously our grandchildren.”

Last week a source told New magazine they believe Vernon’s father is speaking sense – especially as Tess is keen to avoid a public bust-up. “Vernon’s dad’s warning – telling him not to move on too quickly – is wise,” says our source. “He’s saying to his son, ‘Think of the family and get the divorce out of the way.’ Tess is not ready to move on yet and her pals are telling her to have some ‘me time’ and to prioritise self-care.”

While Tess and Vernon are clearly doing their best to remain on friendly terms, their marriage hasn’t always been plain sailing in the past. The pair were famously rocked by a sexting scandal in 2010, after Vernon was caught sending flirty messages to former glamour model Rhian Sugden.

Six years later, there was more heartache for Tess after it was revealed Vernon and Rhian, 39, had again been in contact. However, Vernon insisted there was “never any inappropriate intent” to their communication and stated he was merely “trying to find answers to questions that I’ve had since 2010”.

Last week Norman insisted there was no third party to blame for the break-up, saying, “He’s not interested in finding anyone else at the moment, and there is nobody else involved.”

Despite a couple of bumps in the road over the years, Tess and Vernon’s split announcement left fans stunned. It read, “After much consideration, and with a deep sense of care and respect for one another, we have made the decision to separate amicably.” They added that they “remain great friends” and “fully committed to our roles as loving and supportive parents, which will always be our priority”.

Three days later, Vernon publicly thanked fans for their support, telling his Radio 2 listeners, “I just want to say on behalf of me and Tess, thank you for your well wishes. It’s been greatly appreciated.”

Underlining that there really is no bad blood between them, it’s said they even celebrated their announcement with a glass of bubbly. “After they released the statement, Vernon and Tess took a moment to toast each other and their futures,” a source told The Mirror. “They only want the best for each other and their family.”

According to reports, daughters Phoebe and Amber are also supportive of their parents’ decision to separate. “It sounds bizarre, but everyone is actually happy with the arrangement. The relations between Tess, Vernon and their children are really close and strong,” a source said last week. “Their main priority was their girls.”

Tellingly, the day before their joint post, Tess posted a snap of herself and her eldest daughter – now based in New York – enjoying a day out in Eton, Berkshire, suggesting Phoebe was at home at the time of the announcement. “Got my Phoebe back for a few days and making the most of every moment,” the proud mum captioned her snap.

According to our source, maintaining a sense of stability at home is key for the couple.“Tess doesn’t want it to be a messy split and at the moment it’s bearable,” they claim. “They can be under the same roof and they’re being as amicable as possible for their girls.” As for fans’ hopes that the pair might re-think their decision, our source says it could be a case of wishful thinking. “Friends were also hoping they could get back together, but sadly, there’s no way back now,” they claim.
