Bhubaneswar: The three-day National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) will be held in Bhubaneswar from May 29 to 31, bringing together nearly 500 student leaders, academicians and organisational representatives from across the country to deliberate on key national, educational and youth-related issues.
The meeting will be organised at Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan University in Bhubaneswar.
According to ABVP, a total of 484 representatives, including national office bearers, campus student leaders and functionaries associated with various organisational dimensions, are expected to participate in the event.
Ahead of the NEC meeting, the organisation will hold its Central Working Committee meeting on May 27, with participation of 106 karyakartas from different parts of the country. On May 28, separate meetings of ABVP’s various organisational dimensions and functional forums will be conducted to review year-long activities, discuss expansion strategies and finalise future programmes.
The discussions during these meetings will cover diverse sectors including sports, arts, service activities, environment, research, medical education, agriculture, technology, tribal outreach and international student engagement.
A “Civic Reception Ceremony” will also be organised on the eve of the NEC meeting. Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will attend the programme as the chief guest. Former and present ABVP members, academicians and prominent personalities from different walks of life are expected to participate in the event.
During the three-day deliberations, ABVP leaders and delegates will discuss the prevailing national situation, education reforms, role of youth in nation-building, national security, economic challenges, social issues and organisational expansion. The meeting will also review the implementation of decisions taken during the “Akhil Bharatiya Vichar Baithak 2025” and the “Sangathanatmak Vichar Baithak 2026”.
Student union elections and ensuring democratic representation in educational institutions across the country are also expected to figure prominently in the discussions, with student representatives from colleges and universities sharing their experiences and suggestions.
The NEC will additionally review several ongoing ABVP campaigns and commemorative initiatives, including “Screen Time to Activity Time”, “150 Years of Vande Mataram”, “Hostel Survey Campaign”, “Prof. Yashwantrao Kelkar Birth Centenary Year”, “50 Years of Resistance to Emergency”, “350 Years of the Sacrifice of Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur”, and the “650th Prakatyotsav of Sant Shiromani Ravidas Ji”.
ABVP leaders are also expected to deliberate on membership expansion, formation of campus units, innovative organisational experiments and future outreach strategies, including plans related to National Conference 2026, SEIL Yatra and engagement with international students.
Addressing the significance of the event, ABVP national general secretary Virendra Singh Solanki said the NEC meeting would help determine the future direction of the organisation in the context of emerging national and educational challenges.
He said the meeting, being held in the culturally and spiritually vibrant city of Bhubaneswar, would strengthen organisational energy, ideological clarity and programme expansion while empowering students to play a greater role in nation-building.
