Maya Jama has revealed her cryptic tattoo about ‘love and hurt’ after her ex-boyfriend Ruben Dias was accused of sending social media requests to other women
Maya Jama has proudly showcased her “love and hurt” tattoo after splitting from footballer Ruben Dias. Love Island host Maya dated the Manchester City ace for around 18 months before they went their separate ways just a few weeks ago.
It has now been claimed that Dias, 29, was “toe-dipping” during parts of their relationship. He’s faced allegations that he followed models and social media influencers at night time, before unfollowing them the next morning, if they didn’t return the follow.
But Maya appears to be putting her past behind her after filming Celebrity Traitors and recently jetting out to Majorca to start filming Love Island. She’s also just been revealed as the face of Agent Provocateur Swim 2026 and has unveiled a very cryptic tattoo.
The 31-year-old has a vertical Arabic tattoo running down her hip, which she first revealed online in March. Translated into English, her tattoo says: “Love like you’ve never been hurt, dance like nobody’s watching.”
And the tattoo was on full display as the Bristolian posed in a tiny bikini to celebrate the new Swim 2026 campaign. Maya looked sensational as she struck up a pose while gazing towards the camera.
Alongside her blue bikini, Maya, in one picture, rocked a pair of high-heeled shoes as she posed on the steps. Another image showed the presenter sitting on a chair, at the side of a tennis court, as she slipped into a brown-and-white polka-dot bikini, again showing her impressive tattoo.
In screenshots obtained by the Sun, thought to be from March, Dias could be seen following and unfollowing model Catarina Duraes – he allegedly did the same to a woman named Claire from Perth last November.
While there is no suggestion that he cheated on Maya or ever messaged the women in question, an insider claimed that his antics while still with Maya “will raise eyebrows.”
“It might just seem like a simple follow online but it’s the intention behind it, following someone to see if they follow back and interact, and always doing it late at night – it’s seedy,” they told the outlet. “It suggests he’s sat browsing Instagram and what happens if they do follow back or DM?
“Ruben’s single now so can do what he wants, but the toe dipping whilst he was with Maya will raise eyebrows.” The former couple reportedly split Maya left for Scotland, to go and film the upcoming season of the Celebrity Traitors – she will soon be jetting out to Spain ahead of Love Island kicking off, while Ruben will be joining the Portugal squad for the World Cup.
They first met at the MTV European Music Awards in Manchester at the end of 2024 and soon began dating, sharing loved-up snaps on social media. However, fans noticed that they had both wiped all proof of the relationship earlier this month, sparking split speculation.
“Maya and Ruben had a wonderful time together and there’s still a lot of love and respect between them,” a source told the Sun at the time, revealing they had come to a “crossroads”.
“But with both of their careers going into overdrive this summer, they realised that the relationship had run its course and it was better to separate.
“Maya is heading into an intense filming schedule and Ruben’s focus is fully on the World Cup, so they’ve decided to part ways.”
