Katie Price’s husband Lee Andrews found in jail but 6 huge questions remain

Lee Andrews is missing no more with the mystery of his whereabout revealed to be a notorious Dubai jail – but that’s far from the end of the questions about what happened to Katie Price’s husband.

Katie Price‘s husband has been found two weeks after going missing. She explained today that Lee Andrews had surfaced in Al Awir prison, a notorious desert jail branded ‘Dubai Alcatraz‘ by former inmates.

Mum-of-five Katie, 47, claimed she last spoke to her husband on Wednesday, May 13 and that he was in a van with his hands tied, leading her to fear that he’d been kidnapped. A fortnight later and, she says, it turns out he is alive and doing OK.

It brings to an end one of the strangest stories in the long history of Katie Price but with a series of wild claims – including telling The Sun how “he said the authorities out there thought he was a spy” – there are no end of questions to be answered.

We’re going to look at just six as it’s reported UAE-based Lee, 43, is set to be released from prison on Monday – if he pays a ‘four figure’ fine to authorities.

What happened to get him there?

You would think marrying Katie Price in a wild blaze of publicity would make you a poor fit for the shadowy world of espionage, but she claims Lee told her told over the phone that he was suspected of being a spy. The question is… why?

If Lee was jailed who followed the biker babe?

Nine days after Lee went missing his Instagram account mysteriously started following a new person – a glam US Navy veteran called Marisol. Her account is private but her bio, which describes her as a “biker babe”, isn’t.

It was particularly noticeable because until then he had followed only one person – Katie. However, if Lee has been in Dubai’s notorious Al Awir prison, which is not renowned for its cushy privileges or widespread use of Instagram, who followed her? And why?

Why did Katie deny he’d been arrested?

Over the weekend, Lee’s dad Peter said his son has been arrested by the UAE authorities. He told the Mail: “Lee is OK. He has not been kidnapped but he is under arrest. I don’t know on what charge. I’m not sure where he is being held.”

But Katie called the claims “fake news”. She wrote: “Lee is still missing. Me and his family know what’s going on and working with the authorities involved.” However, it seems what Peter claimed lines up with what Lee said today.

How was his phone on?

When Lee vanished he told Katie that he had three phones, one that was being used to message her and two that had been taken. But calls to his number did on occasion connect and messages to his WhatsApp received a double tick one Saturday evening during the time he was missing.

That means the phone had either been charged – by him or the people who took him, we don’t know – or he has a truly enviable battery life.

Why no official statements?

Dubai police haven’t said anything on Lee today and even now authorities including the UK’s Foreign Office have not confirmed he has been detained. In fact, nobody has really said anything.

Reports that Interpol were seeking Lee were described as wide of the mark earlier this week. The Foreign Office repeated an earlier line that: “We are supporting the family of a British man and are in contact with the local authorities.”

Why did Katie delete her claim she was on his Facebook?

This time last week, several people pointed out that they had seen Dubai-based Lee logged into the Facebook Messager service, among them the former Apprentice star Luisa Zissman.

Posting from Dubai she said: “He was seen as active on Facebook Messenger six hours ago which does indicate that his kidnappers are definitely letting him have access to social media.”

Katie shut the talk down saying: “I have Lee’s Facebook it’s not him on this it’s me.” But the post vanished from her Instagram Story.
