Wolfgang Douglas, the son of wrongfully incarcerated Albert Douglas, has poured scorn on Lee Andrews’ kidnap story, describing Katie Price’s husband as being the ‘fakest’ person in Dubai
The son of a British man who spent five harrowing years trapped in a Dubai jail has slammed Lee Andrews, accusing him of hikacking his family’s real-life trauma and branding him a ‘Tinder Swindler’ style con artist.
Speaking to the Mirror, businessman Wolfgang Douglas – who lived in Dubai for 12 years – did not hold back on his view of the glamorous emirate or Katie Price’s new husband.
“Dubai is a fake city. A fake world, a fake economy, with fake economics. It’s a fake place filled with fake people,” Wolfgang told the Mirror. “Lee Andrews is probably the fakest of them between his fake teeth and his fake Instagram and his fake LinkedIn and his fake photographs with his AI.”
Wolfgang’s father 63-year-old Albert Douglas finally returned to his London home in December, after a brutal ordeal. A well-known figure who once dined with Dubai’s elite, Albert was wrongfully imprisoned for debts he did not owe in a case Wolfgang describes as “financial entrapment.”
Before the UN completely exonerated him, Albert was allegedly subjected to severe torture and forced to drink toilet water behind the bars of notorious jails in the UAE city, including the infamous Al-Aziz prison. He remains deeply scarred by his experience, having witnessed fellow inmates die by suicide and suffer horrific abuse.
But as the Douglas family continue to fight for justice, the bizarre saga of Katie Price’s husband has left a deeply sour taste in their mouth.
Earlier this month, glamour model Katie, 47, sparked a media frenzy by claiming Lee had vanished while travelling to the UK, and that telling her Instagram followers that he had been bundled into a van and kidnapped.
The narrative quickly fell apart, when it was revealed that Lee, 43, was actually being held in Al Awir prison, an infamous jail dubbed ‘Dubai Alcatraz‘. He is reportedly due for release on Monday, June 1, upon paying a four-figure fine.
Insiders believe Lee heavily embellished his story by stealing elements of Albert’s well-publicised plight. A source recently told The Sun: “Lee is the type of person to read a story and then imagine it into reality. There are lots of similarities between their stories. Lee could easily have made this all up based on Albert’s story, as it’s been in the UK press recently, and just be hiding out.”
Businessman Wolfgang, from South Kensington, strongly agrees with this theory, adding: “When you tell a lie, one of the biggest elements of a lie that holds it together, the glue or the substance of a lie, is the truth. When you’re living in Fantasy Island, as Lee Andrews lives in, what he needed to do was apply truth to his life.”
Albert was taken to an undisclosed location with a bag over his face after making a desperate attempt to flee Dubai, where he says he was beaten and tortured. Wolfgang believes Lee read these details of his father’s devastating ordeal and adopted them, adding: “He’s taken the truth and then inserted it into his web of lies.”
Eyebrows were raised in January when Katie married Lee in January, just a few days after they met. While the former Page 3 star has fiercely defended her fourth husband against allegations that he a conman, Wolfgang believes she is being taken for a ride.
He said: “I feel very sorry for Katie Price that she’s been duped, but he clearly has skill. His skill is a silver tongue, and the knowledge of how a lie works. He understands the mechanism of a lie.”
But he is sceptical, adding: “She’s getting a lot of press, and you know that’s what her business model is. She’s really brought her name back into the spotlight. I think it’s a convenient victimhood.”
Wolfgang speculated that Lee’s failure to appear alongside Katie for a scheduled slot on Good Morning Britain was down to legal reality rather than a dramatic capture, adding that he thinks Lee could have been on a travel ban.
Since the escalation of the Iran war, Wolfgang has been indundated with calls from British expats, describing people sobbing down the phone as they feel like hostages in the “open air prison of Dubai”.
Because he now uses his hard-won knowledge of UAE law to help genuine victims, Lee’s stunt has provoked absolute fury.
“I’ve got zero sympathy,” Wolfgang concluded. “They are using a deeply traumatic, true story to mix with a false narrative just to sell papers. I question how much Katie is simply allowing this charade to continue for the sake of the spotlight.”
Because he now tries to use his hard-won knowledge of UAE law to assist other victims, Lee’s stunt has provoked fury.
“When I see people like Lee Andrews, who’s a total fake con artist, marrying Mrs Fake so that he can have his fake persona after he rinses her, I’ve got sort of zero sympathy.
“I question how foolish Katie is, and whether she is just allowing the charade to continue because she’s getting unprecedented press over this.”
