
Eluru III Town police have solved the case of missing woman Vishali by arresting a milk vendor on charges of murdering her. Police had earlier recovered Vishali’s body buried near Polavaram Main Canal area of Pallerlamudi village in Eluru district. According to Eluru DSP D. Sravan Kumar, police received a complaint on April 18 regarding the disappearance of Vishali, aged 35. A native of Gudivada village, Vishali married to Prakash of Vatluru village in Eluru district. The couple have two children.
According to police, the family had been regularly purchasing milk from Francis, who was also lent money. Vishali borrowed money from Francis and in the process the two developed a relationship. Officials said Vishali later began distancing herself from Francis, citing family reputation and the welfare of her children. Police said on April 18, Francis took Vishali on his motorcycle to the Polavaram Main Canal area, strangled her to death, and buried the body near Pallerlamudi village in Nuzvid mandal of Eluru district. When Vishali’s family found her missing, they lodged a complaint with police. The DSP said after murdering Vishali, accused Francis used Vishali’s mobile phone to send messages in an attempt to mislead investigators.
Police arrested Francis on Friday and he is said to have confessed to the crime.
Inter student dies by suicide
An intermediate student died by suicide at a private college near Kesarapalli in Gannavaram mandal of Krishna district on Thursday night, allegedly after becoming distressed over his expected score in APEAPCET-2026.
According to Gannavaram police, the student, a native of Anantapur district, had completed his Intermediate education at the same college and secured 940 marks out of 1,000.
Police said he had applied for improvement examinations in three subjects and had returned to the college for preparation.
Officials said the student allegedly became upset after checking the recently released APEAPCET-2026 preliminary key and believing that he had scored lower marks than expected.
Police registered a case of suspicious death and initiated an investigation.
3 killed in collision between auto, motorcycle
At least three persons have been killed in an accident near Pandavagallu village in Adoni mandal of Kurnool district when an auto-rickshaw collided head-on with a motorcycle on Friday night.
According to reports, Veeresh and Mahindra travelling on the bike got killed on the spot in the collision. Vishwanath, a resident of Kautalam travelling in the auto, succumbed to injuries later.
Police have shifted the bodies of the victims to the Adoni Government Hospital for post-mortem.
Kid drowns in water pit under bridge in Kadapa
A five-year-old boy died after accidentally falling into a water pit in the Bugga Vanka catchment area of Kadapa headquarters on Friday.
The deceased has been identified as Syed Yousuf, a resident of Gurralagadda street. According to sources, the boy had gone to fish at a water-filled pit near the under-construction Shamiriya Bridge.
However, Yousuf accidentally slipped into the pit and started struggling to get out. Nearby residents who noticed the boy drowning immediately pulled him out and took him to RIMS Hospital. However, on arrival at the hospital, doctors declared that the boy had already died.
Former Kadapa mayor Paka Suresh Kumar visited the bereaved family and expressed his condolences. He assured the family support during its difficult time.
Speaking to reporters later, Suresh Kumar alleged negligence at the Shamiriya Bridge construction site and demanded strict action against the officials and contractors for Yousuf’s death.
