Bhubaneswar: A Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls commenced across Odisha on Saturday, with Booth Level Officers (BLOs) launching a door-to-door verification drive that will continue until June 28.

As part of the exercise, BLOs are visiting households to distribute enumeration forms and assist voters in updating their details in the electoral rolls. In Jagatsinghpur district, Booth Level Officers have started reaching out to residents across various blocks, providing two forms to each voter and helping them fill in the required information.

Officials said the revision process aims to ensure the accuracy of voter lists ahead of future elections. BLOs are also facilitating the enrolment of eligible new voters and collecting necessary information for corrections, additions, and deletions in the electoral database.

“We received the enumeration forms on Friday. From today we are visiting door-to-door to distribute the forms and helping people to fill it. If they fails to fill the form, we will help them,” said a BLO.

A local said, “We were given the forms and as per the instructions we will fill it.”

Notably, after the month-long exercise, the draft roll will be published on 5 July, while claims and objections can be filed between 5 July and 4 August. The final roll will be published on 6 September.

The Election Commission has urged citizens to cooperate with the officials during the verification process and submit the required documents on time. The month-long exercise is expected to help create a more comprehensive and error-free electoral roll across the state.
