
A man allegedly murdered his wife and died by suicide after his wife refused to buy a two-wheeler, police said on Saturday. The alleged attacker, Dasari Anjaiah of Marepalli of Sangareddy district, had married the victim, Yadamma of Sanjeevraopet, Narayankhed mandal, just 11 months ago.
After marriage, he rented a mango orchard in the suburbs of Marepalli. Anjaiah, allegedly addicted to alcohol, used to quarrel with his wife often to buy a bike for his sister-in-law. Following another quarrel on Friday, Anjaiah allegdly strangled Yadamma in the living room and died by suicide in the orchard, police said.
Four chain-snatchers including juvenile held
Four snatchers, including a juvenile suspect, who on May 26 snatched a two‑tola gold chain from a woman in Jeedimetla, were arrested on Saturday.
According to Medchal DCP Kotireddy, the accused Govind Singh, Karan Singh, Hardeep Singh and the juvenile suspect snatched a two‑tola gold chain and mobile phone from victim G. Srilatha while she was on her way home near the GHMC circle office in Jeedimetla.
Police said that earlier the same day, before committing the snatching, the accused had attempted to steal a parked autorickshaw in Yellammabanda. Police recovered the gold chain and mobile phone and seized the bike used in the offence. Three of the accused have been sent to judicial remand, while the juvenile suspect has been shifted to a juvenile home, police said.
Pharmacy student booked for sexual exploitation
A BPharmacy student has been booked for sexually exploiting a classmate under the pretext of marrying her. According to Medchal police, the accused recorded intimate content, demanded money, and blackmailed the victim by threatening to share the material — photos and videos — with her college mates and family members.
The victim, also a pharmacy student, said she developed a friendship with her classmate. He convinced her of his intention to marry her and later sexually assaulted her after taking her to a park, she stated in her complaint, according to Medchal station house officer Satyanarayana.
She further alleged that the accused repeatedly subjected her to sexual exploitation and secretly recorded nude visuals during video calls. He allegedly demanded money and threatened to share the images and videos with her family if she refused. The victim said the youth recently sent the intimate content to her brother.
Based on her complaint, Medchal police registered a case and are investigating. Jawaharnagar police had earlier registered a zero FIR against the accused, Santosh, and transferred it to Medchal police station for further investigation, the SHO said.
Worker killed in tyre workshop blast
A worker died and two others were injured in a massive explosion at a tyre re‑treading workshop in Muthangi under Patancheru limits on Saturday afternoon. Patancheru station house officer Vinayaka Reddy said the blast occurred at Midas Tyre Company on Rice Mill Road, owned by Riyaz, where old tyres were being re‑treaded and re‑sold.
The explosion took place around 1.30 pm, when three workers were present at the spot. The victim, Mohd Saleem, was thrown against a wall under the impact of the blast and suffered fatal injuries. Two others were injured and were undergoing treatment at a nearby hospital, the SHO said.
Saleem, a resident of Hydernagar, is survived by his wife and son. Police registered a case and launched an investigation. The body was shifted to the government hospital mortuary in Sangareddy for post‑mortem.
Imposter booked for extorting hotelier
SR Nagar police booked G. Srinivas for allegedly impersonating a food safety officer and extorting money from a hotel. The accused demanded ₹10,000 from Syed Ali Asher Jaffari, manager of a hotel in SR Nagar, police said, quoting the victim’s complaint.
Jaffari stated that on April 23 Srinivas introduced himself as a GHMC food officer, alleged hygiene violations at the hotel and demanded ₹10,000 to avoid action and harassment. As he was not authorised to make such payments without the owner’s approval, the manager initially refused.
After negotiations, Jaffari said he paid ₹5,000 to Srinivas. The accused returned on May 27 and again demanded money. Jaffari refused and asked him to issue a notice if violations existed, upon which Srinivas fled, police said. Jaffari later inquired with local GHMC officials, sharing CCTV screenshots. Officials confirmed that Srinivas was an imposter.
Two Women Held at Lakdikapul with 21 kg Ganja Bound for Mumbai
The Saifabad police on Saturday arrested two women, Tippigiri Laxmi, a native of Narayanpet district, Telangana, and Sandip Kaur Makkhan Singh, for allegedly transporting ganja, and seized 21.251 kg of the contraband against them. Saifabad additional inspector N. Rajender said the police intercepted the duo near the Lakdikapul railway station parking lot early on Saturday and checked their luggage which found the narcotic that was divided into 19 packets. The accused said they had procured the contraband from supplier Srinu of Visakhapatnam and were transporting the contraband to Mumbai. They also disclosed the involvement of two other associates, Baby and Sampath, who are absconding along with Srinu.
