But the voice has now fallen silent forever, after the singer has bid farewell to the world. Foster, who was a popular part of his family’s R&B group, The Sylvers, has died at the age of 64. In turn, he has left behind an impressive legacy that shaped the music and disco scene in the 1970s.
Foster Sylvers’ cause of death and final days
His brother, Leon Sylvers III, confirmed Foster Sylvers’ death. He passed away on May 30, 2026. According to the family, Foster died after losing a long battle with advanced-stage 4 cancer. In fact, they mentioned that his health had worsened during his final days. In turn, the music legend spent his final days under hospice care. Although Foster tried various treatment methods, they could not stop his illness from advancing in his body.

For those unaware, Foster’s diagnosis was not widely shared with the public. However, the people close to him and his family knew about it. Leon also mentioned that his brother passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones. According to family statements, Foster Sylvers’ death came two decades after the death of his brother, Edmund Sylvers. Even the latter died from lung cancer in 2004. They had also lost their youngest brother, Christopher Sylvers. He died in 1985 at the mere age of 18. Meanwhile, Foster was an integral part of Australia’s most successful family music groups. He was born into a family of 10 siblings and grew up surrounded by music. Eventually, the siblings formed The Sylvers, becoming one of the biggest R&B and disco acts of the 1970s.
