Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh is likely to witness mixed weather conditions on Monday, with rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms expected in several districts even as intense heat persists in parts of the state, according to the State Disaster Management Authority. The APSDMA said varied weather conditions prevailed across the state on Sunday, with temperatures crossing 44 degrees Celsius in some areas, while rain-bearing systems continued to influence weather patterns over Andhra Pradesh.
“Rains accompanied by lightning and the impact of heat in some places are likely to continue across the state on Monday as well,” said Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA) Managing Director Prakhar Jain in an official press release.
According to APSDMA, a trough extending from the upper air cyclonic circulation over Vidarbha across North Coastal Andhra Pradesh, the west-central Bay of Bengal and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal is driving the current weather activity.
Under its influence, light to moderate rains accompanied by lightning are likely at isolated places in Anantapur, Sri Sathya Sai, YSR Kadapa, Annamayya, and Chittoor districts on Monday.
Scattered light rains accompanied by lightning are also expected across the remaining districts of the state, the authority said.
Meanwhile, temperatures between 42 and 44 degrees Celsius are predicted in parts of Polavaram, Eluru, Krishna, NTR, Guntur, Markapuram, Bapatla, Palnadu, Prakasam and Nellore districts.
Temperatures ranging from 40 degrees Celsius to 42 degrees Celsius are expected in parts of Parvathipuram Manyam, Alluri Sitharama Raju, East Godavari, West Godavari, Nandyal, YSR Kadapa and Tirupati districts.
On Sunday, the highest temperature of 44.3 degrees Celsius was recorded at Achampet in Palnadu district, followed by 43.9 degrees Celsius at Kavali in Nellore district.
Jain advised people to remain alert in view of the prevailing heat conditions. He also urged farmers and cattle rearers working in fields not to stand under trees, electric poles or hoardings during thunderstorms and to move to safe places immediately when dark clouds gather and thunder is heard.
