Ferrari has unveiled Charles Leclerc’s special race suit for his home race at the Monaco Grand Prix.

Straying away from the usual predominantly red design that has become synonymous with the Maranello outfit, Leclerc will instead wear an almost all-white look. The new race suit features red accents and stripes down the sides, resembling the Monaco flag.

“To race at home is very, very special,” Leclerc said in a video posted on the official Ferrari Formula 1 social media pages. “Those are the streets that I’ve been taking my bus since I was a kid, and there’s just something about Monaco.

“On the track, whichever corner I am in, I’ve got a story of my childhood or from when I started racing. There’s a bit of a personal story everywhere around the track, and that’s why it makes it so special for me.”

Fans were quick to share their verdict on the race suit, with many hoping for a special livery on the SF26. “Looks better than the actual suit, now we pray for the car,” one fan commented on Reddit, while another added: “Now just please have a car livery to match!”

As Leclerc enjoys this new special race suit for his home race, this has prompted fans to question whether his team-mate Lewis Hamilton could introduce a one-off design for the British Grand Prix. “Does this mean we get a Lewis Silverstone special suit?” someone asked.

Others pointed to the resemblance to Leclerc’s previous Sauber race suit from his rookie season in the championship in 2018, before he moved to Ferrari in 2019. “It looks like his old Sauber (Alfa Romeo) racesuit tbh,” one wrote, while another added: “It’s like he’s an Alfa driver all over again.”

The Monaco Grand Prix will take place around the streets of Monte Carlo from 5-7 June.
