Olympiacos has regained the lead in the series after overcoming Vouliagmeni 13:12, bringing them one game away from winning their sixteenth title.

With the game played at Olympiacos’ home venue, the Papastrateio swimming pool, Olympiacos started the game strongly, scoring the first three goals but would be pegged back later in the quarter as three unanswered goals by Vouliagmeni in two minutes leveled the score at the end of the period at 3:3. The second quarter started the same as the first with the home team re-building a three goal lead which Olympiacos held into half time (8:5).

The next eight minutes started with Olympiacos increasing their advantage to four. However, it wasn’t over as goals from Fountotou, Fouraki and Tzoustra reduced the deficit to two (11:9) going into last quarter. In the fourth quarter, Olympiacos may have scored the first goal through Dionysia Koureta, but Vouliagmeni weren’t finished yet and would try to start catching up with relative success. But in the end, their twelfth goal would be scored at the final buzzer and Olympiacos held on to a 13:12 victory.

Giorgos Doskas’ team will now head to Vouliagmeni knowing a win would secure the title, their 16th overall.
