The makers of Ananthan Kaadu have officially locked in the film’s release date. The much-anticipated Tamil-Malayalam bilingual, headlined by Arya, is set to arrive in cinemas worldwide on June 25. The announcement was made on Monday through social media, with the team unveiling a new poster that showcases the film’s principal cast.
Positioned as an action thriller, Ananthan Kaadu marks an intriguing collaboration between director Jiyen Krishnakumar and writer Murali Gopy. The duo previously worked together on the acclaimed 2017 film Tiyaan, starring Prithviraj Sukumaran and Indrajith Sukumaran. Their reunion has generated considerable curiosity among cinephiles, particularly given Tiyaan’s ambitious storytelling and philosophical undertones.
While details surrounding the plot remain under wraps, the film is expected to blend action, drama and suspense against a larger-than-life backdrop. The newly released poster hints at an expansive narrative featuring multiple key characters, suggesting that the story will unfold through several interconnected arcs.
For Arya, the project represents another significant addition to his increasingly diverse body of work. Having comfortably navigated genres ranging from action and romance to sports dramas and thrillers, the actor now steps into a bilingual venture that aims to appeal to audiences across Tamil and Malayalam markets.
Star-studded cast and experienced technical crew
One of Ananthan Kaadu’s biggest attractions is its ensemble cast. Arya plays a Tamilian in the film, which brings together actors from multiple industries. The supporting lineup includes Vijayaraghavan, Murali Gopy, Sunil, Achyuth Kumar, Regina Cassandra, Santhy Balachandran, Nikhila Vimal, Dev Mohan, Sagar Surya, Saritha Kukku, Indrans, Siddique, Renji Panicker and Appani Sarath.
The film’s makers have assembled a seasoned technical team as well. Cinematography is handled by S Yuva, while Rohit VS Variyath serves as editor. The music has been composed by B Ajaneesh Loknath, whose work on the Kantara films earned widespread acclaim and established him as one of the most sought-after composers in South Indian cinema.
Production duties are shared by S Vinod Kumar’s Mini Studios and Arya’s home banner The Show People. Over the years, Mini Studios has backed several notable projects, and the collaboration with Arya’s production house signals the scale and ambition behind the venture.
The release comes at an important juncture for Arya, who was last seen in director Manu Anand’s spy action thriller Mr X. The film featured an ensemble cast that included Manju Warrier, Gautham Ram Karthik and R Sarath Kumar. With Ananthan Kaadu, the actor appears set to return to a more rugged action-oriented space while also exploring a character rooted in a larger multilingual narrative.
As the June 25 release date approaches, expectations are steadily building around the film. The combination of Murali Gopy’s writing, Jiyen Krishnakumar’s direction, a sprawling ensemble cast and Ajaneesh Loknath’s music has positioned Ananthan Kaadu as one of the notable South Indian releases on the horizon.
