Visakhapatnam:Southwest (SW) monsoon might set in over Kerala on June 4, said senior scientist at IMD, Amaravati Dr. S. Karunasagar.
In this regard, he pointed out that conditions are favourable with southwest monsoon advancing further into some more parts of southwest and southeast Arabian Sea, Lakshadweep Islands, some parts of Kerala and Tamil Nadu, some more parts of southwest, west central, east central, and northeast Bay of Bengal, and the remaining parts of southeast Bay of Bengal.
In the interim, thunderstorms have lashed several parts of north coastal Andhra and coastal Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday afternoon. In Anakapalli, trees got uprooted when thunderstorms accompanied by gale winds hit the town disrupting normal life.
Private weather website Skymet said multiple weather systems continue to influence weather activity across the country. In the southern region, the cyclonic circulation over Southeast Arabian Sea and adjoining South Lakshadweep area now lies over southeast Arabian Sea and adjoining south Kerala coast, extending up to 7.6 km above mean sea level (MSL).
A western disturbance is currently being seen as a cyclonic circulation over northwest Uttar Pradesh and adjoining areas between 3.1 and 7.6 km above MSL. Another cyclonic circulation persists over central Pakistan and adjoining areas at lower levels.
A separate cyclonic circulation is marked over northeast Rajasthan at 1.5 km above MSL. Yet another circulation, earlier positioned over south Pakistan and adjoining southwest Rajasthan, is now lying over southwest Rajasthan and nearby areas.
Over eastern India, a cyclonic circulation persists over south Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining parts of Jharkhand and Odisha between 1.5 and 3.1 km above MSL.
